Black-eyed peas in the slow cooker are given a spicy makeover with the addition of cumin, bacon, ham, and jalapeo pepper. Excellent for Lunch!

  • 1 pound Black-eyed peas sorted and rinsed
  • 6 cups water
  • 4 slices Bacon chopped
  • 1 onion diced
  • 1 cup chicken cubed
  • 8 ounces ham diced
  • 1 red bell pepper diced
  • 2 cloves garlic diced
  • 1 jalepeno minced and seeded
  • teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt to taste


  • Empty water into a sluggish cooker; add bouillon cube and mix to dissolve. Mix in black eyed peas, ham, bacon, onion, ringer pepper, jalapeño, garlic, cumin, dark pepper, cayenne pepper, and salt.
  • Cover and cook on Low until beans are cooked, 6 to 7 hours.
